Balancing Coordination and Synchronization Cost in Cooperative Situated Multi-Agent Systems with Imperfect Communication

چکیده
We propose a new Markov team decision model to the decentralized control of cooperative multi-agent systems with imperfect communication. Informational classes capture system’s communication semantics and uncertainties about transmitted information and stochastic transmission models, including delayed and lost messages, summarize characteristics of communication devices and protocols. This model provides a quantitative solution to the problem of balancing coordination and synchronization cost in cooperative domains, but its exact solution is computationally infeasible. We propose a generic heuristic approach, based on a off-line centralized team plan. Decentralized decision-making relies on Bayesian dynamic system estimators and decision-theoretic policy generators. These generators use system estimators to express agent’s uncertainty about system state and also to quantify expected effects of communication on local and external knowledge. Probabilities of external team behavior, a byproduct of policy generators, are used into system estimators to infer state transition. Experimental results concerning two previously proposed multi-agent tasks are presented, including limited communication range and reliability.

متن کاملPhotovoltaic Microgrids Control by the Cooperative Control of Multi-Agent Systems
This paper presents a cooperative control which is applied to the secondary control of a microgrid controlled via a multi-agent scheme. Balancing power that leads to voltage and frequency stability in a microgrid is essential. The voltage and frequency regulations are limiting within the specified limits and conveying them to their nominal values. Limiting and conveying the voltage and frequenc...
متن کاملAgent Models for Enhanced Interactions in Cooperative and Competitive Environments - Research outline
Multi-agent Systems, as the name suggests, deals with environments in which there are several agents with potential to interact. The field of Multi-Agents Systems began its rapid development since the development of distributed, interconnected computer systems, such as the Internet. Such interconnected settings, when one computer agent interacts with another, required researching interactions s...
متن کاملFormal Modeling of Communication Decisions in Cooperative Multi-agent Systems
When collaborative agents cannot observe the global state of an uncertain environment, they must communicate in order to achieve their common goals, which is evaluated through a global utility function. We develop a multiagent extension to Markov decision processes in which communication is an explicit action that incurs a cost. Thus, agents have to decide not only which local action to perform...
